Biography Section

Biography and Education

Hillarie Garnier received her M.S. in Public Health Education and Promotion, with a concentration in health equity, from Texas State University where she now serves as a lecturer of public health in the Department of Health and Human Performance. She received her B.S. in Health Promotion from Appalachian State University, in Boone, North Carolina, where she developed an interest in rural and Indigenous health, health education, and health equity. Prior to joining Texas State University, Hillarie's occupational background includes serving as an emergency medical services healthcare provider and as a training educator for the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, and the Health Safety Institute.

Teaching Interests

Health Promotion, Disease Prevention, Health Equity, Indigenous Health, Rural Health, Mental Health, Emergency Management.
