Biography and Education
Born in McAllen, TX and graduated from Donna High School in Donna, TX. I received a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in philosophy in 2015 and completed a M.S in psychology with a focus on counseling in 2018. In this time, I completed over 300 hours with the Student Health & Wellness Center providing counseling services for the students of Texas A&M University - Kingsville as a Master's Practicum Counselor. This, while under the supervision of a LPC-SIn 2011, I accepted a position as a Supplemental Instructor for Intro to psychology and general survey of psychology. This entailed holding weekly study sessions that mirrored a supplemental lecture over the same material covered by the professor of record. Held this position until fall of 2015, when I was promoted to a Graduate Assistant for the Center for Student Success. Due to grand funding issues, I was made responsible for scheduling, evaluation, and general upkeep of the Supplemental Instruction Program at Texas A&M University - Kingsville.
After holding that position for a year, I then accepted a position with the Psychology Department as an Adjunct Lecturer who taught both on campus and dual-enrollment, while being a full-time graduate student and part-time practicum counselor. I mention these points because they had a major effect on my methods and performance abilities. As an Supplemental Instructor, I observed multiple course sections of different courses each semester and logged well over 10 courses in where I shared responsibility for teaching. These experiences of student teaching, program evaluation, personnel management, applied ethics, and counseling is invaluable to my current abilities.
