Biography and Education

Allison Robinson received her BA in Liberal Arts from Concordia University in 2009, her MA in History from Texas State University in 2012, and her PhD in History from the University of Houston 2016.

Teaching Interests

I enjoy teaching undergraduate survey level and upper division US history courses. I currently teach both the first and second half of the US history survey. I would like to develop more history of women's health courses and a history of family and childhood in the U.S. The first would likely appeal to criminal justice majors. The history of family and childhood would likely appeal to both sociology and education majors.

Research Interests

My research focuses on the southern carceral state in the 20th century and the impact carceral policies had on women, girls, and African Americans in the South. I am also looking into new research topics in gender and public health in the U.S.
