Teaching Interests

 I pursue two practical goals in order to lead my students to the ultimate destination of self-respect and lifelong confidence. One goal is to structure courses that examine real world practices so that the practical applications of class lectures are tailored to keep the efficiency-oriented new generation motivated and engaged in class. Our students live in a rapidly changing world with a high concern for their future lives. Thus, students are compelled to spend their time in education more efficiently, and with a clear vision for their future. The other goal is to build reciprocity and trust in class and help students realize their potential. In order to achieve my teaching goals in class, I have utilized several strategies, such as cultivating proactive communication between myself and my students, creating links between class materials and students' needs and interests, designing the courses with practical applications to current issues, and building students' self-esteem through successful completion of challenging assignments.

Research Interests

 Dr. Yun's research is dedicated to integrated interdisciplinary approaches across political communication, public opinion, social capital, and applied methodology. Her publications in several leading journals, such as American Behavioral Scientist, Journalism Studies, Presidential Studies Quarterly and The American Review of Politics, and several book chapters demonstrate how individuals’ political perceptions, attitudes, and behaviors are influenced by political predispositions within a group and by political resources within a given geopolitical and media system at the aggregate level. Dr. Yun also received several grants from national and foreign governments, such as the U.S. Department of Education and the Korean National Assembly Research Service. As part of the grant-supported projects, Dr. Yun's research teams developed: a comparison model of SNS political communication in the U.S. and the U.K; databases on U.S. election laws; educational modules for journalists to use as tools in order to be prepared to cover emergent news; and a certificate program in Southeast Asia Studies.
