Biography Section

Biography and Education

Anne Winchell has a Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Texas State University, where she's taught creative writing, composition, and storytelling in video games for over a decade. Her most recent publication is a high fantasy novel with a modern twist, Rise of the Phoenix, the first in the Imperial Saga. In addition, she's published a science fiction novel called The Last War, and a collection of science fiction short stories and poems entitled Dystopian Galaxies: Visions of the Future. Her creative nonfiction short story “Not Pregnant at Mercy Hospital” was a finalist in the Pacific Northwest Writers contest in the Adult Short Topic category. In academics, she's published on the pedagogy of teaching storytelling in video games, and regularly presents on using video games and popular culture in the classroom.
