Biography Section

Biography and Education

Karima Lalani joined the HIM department as Faculty in 2011. She has extensive experience, both domestic and international, in systems design, implementation and training, workflow analysis, revenue management, financial planning and strategy. She has also received training in Management Systems Auditing from the London School of Economics, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Healthcare Management & Policy at the University of Texas School of Public Health. Her interests are in the areas of Healthcare Management, Health Policy, Health Information Management applications in Oral Health specialties, Electronic Health Records, and Entrepreneurship for Healthcare Professionals.

Karima has received the College of Health Professions’ Part-Time Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award, and has been awarded as “Favorite Professor” by Alpha Chi National College Honor Society in 2014, in 2015, and in 2016. She is also a recipient of the Certificate in Online Teaching by the Sloan-C Consortium. She participates on the editorial review panel for “Perspectives in Health Information Management”, “Educational Perspectives in Health Information Management”, and “Quality Management in Healthcare” peer-reviewed journals, and has given presentations at state and national conferences. She was also appointed member of AHIMA's Graduate Resource Alliance, with appointment term ending in 2020.

Healthcare Management, Health Policy, Health Information Management applications in Oral Health specialties, Electronic Health Records, and Entrepreneurship for Healthcare Professionals.
