Biography and Education

Tim England has been at Texas State University since 1993. In 1994, he received a Ph.D in Communication and Political Science from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. England's dissertation was titled "Decision-Making in Television Newsrooms: The Rationale for Live-on-the-Scene News Reports."

England, an associate professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, specializes in electronic media messaging. His broadcasting career began in 1974 when he was a high school senior in Glasgow, Kentucky. During his 18 years of industry experience, England worked at various times as a deejay, program director, news reporter, news anchor and news director for broadcast stations in Kentucky, Indiana, Virginia and Tennessee. As a news writer, he won several Associated Press awards and a national Public Radio News Directors Association award for daily news coverage.

England earned a B.A. degree at Western Kentucky University and a M.A. at Indiana University-Bloomington. He has received numerous teaching awards and serves on several academic committees. England has been the electronic media program coordinator since 1999.
