She holds an MFA in Dance from Case Western University in Cleveland, OH and a Bachelor in Exercise and Sports Science from Texas State University.

Her own choreography has been produced in Texas, Ohio, New Jersey, New York, Costa Rica, Germany, Scotland, and Trinidad & Tobago.

Kaysie’s current creative research is inspired by her time in New York City where she choreographed, performed, taught, and discovered the rewards of dance integration with other academics. While in NYC she studied with Dance Education Laboratory and worked with LEAP (Learning through an Expanded Arts Program), Young Audiences NY, and Notes in Motion.

She is the director of the Arts Education Outreach multi-faceted program Creation in Motion, housed at Texas State University. This program includes dance and movement teacher training, after-school programs, summer camps, residencies, and interactive performances for youth by Creation in Motion Touring Ensemble for Young Audiences or CIM TEYA. Creation in Motion’s mission is to help children learn important academic and social/emotional concepts by creating uniquely engaging educational programs integrated with dance and technology that instill an appreciation and excitement for dance. In 2013 Kaysie was awarded the highly competitive Research Enhancement Program Grant to set up a tuition-free Creation in Motion after-school residency at Crockett Elementary in San Marcos, TX titled Enhancing the Learning of Science Through the Creation of Dance.

Awards Kaysie has received include the 2019 Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching, the College of Fine Arts and Communication Presidential College Achievement Award for Service, the College of Fine Arts and Communication Presidential College Achievement Award for Scholarly/ Creative, the College of Fine Arts and Communication Presidential College Achievement Award for Teaching, and the 2015 TAHPERD University Dance Teacher of the Year Award.
