Biography and Education

Shayne Jones is a Professor in the School of Criminal Justice and Criminology. Prior to coming to Texas State University (2015), he was a professor at the University of South Florida (2005-2015) and a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Psychiatry and Law Program, Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (2003-2005).

Teaching Interests

Dr. Jones currently teaches statistics, criminal justice policy, and the psychology of antisocial behavior. He has previously taught: forensic psychology, white collar crime, developmental/life-course criminology, juvenile delinquency, criminological theory, and introductory courses (criminology, criminal justice, sociology).

Research Interests

Dr. Jones’ research focuses primarily on the relationship between personality (psychopathy, self-control, impulsivity) and antisocial behavior (offending and aggression), the measurement of personality (psychometrics), and legal decision-making (particularly among jurors and judges).
